Privacy Policy
Last updated: 29 October 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what BuildLaunch (“we”, “us”) collects when you play Foldline Duo (the “Game”) or visit this website, and what we do with it. The short version: the Game works without an account, has no adverts, and does not use third-party advertising or analytics tools.
1. What stays on your device
Most of what the Game knows about you never leaves your phone.
- Your progress: stories finished, best times, number of plays, and which tutorials you have seen, saved in the Game’s own storage on your device.
- Your sound setting.
- Hinge and screen information. The Game reads whether a foldable phone is open or closed so it can start and pause the story. This is used only on the device and is never sent to us.
2. Accounts (optional)
You can create an account with an email address and password so your progress follows you to another device. Sign-in is handled by our authentication provider, Clerk. We never see your password.
When you sign in we store a profile that holds your email address and your progress (finished stories, best times, plays). If you sign out, the Game saves your progress first and then clears it from that device.
3. Anonymous usage counters
To learn which stories are too hard, too easy or never finished, the Game sends a few simple events to our own server: a session started, a story started or completed, a puzzle solved, and a hint used. Each event is tied to a random install identifier that the Game creates on first launch. It contains no name or email address and cannot be used to identify you.
These events are added to counters (for example, “a story has been completed N times”). We do not use any third-party analytics SDK, advertising identifier or tracking across other apps and sites.
4. Notifications (optional)
After you finish a story the Game may ask once whether it can send notifications, such as when a new story is ready. If you agree, we store a push token for your device, delivered through Expo’s push service and Apple’s notification service. You can turn notifications off at any time in your phone’s settings.
5. Downloaded stories
New stories are delivered from our servers. When you open one, the Game downloads its story and pictures and keeps them on your device so you can play offline afterwards. Downloading a story does not send us any information beyond the request itself (such as your IP address, which our hosting provider logs for security and reliability).
6. Purchases
Paid stories, when offered, are bought through the App Store. Apple processes the payment and tells the Game whether you own the unlock. We never receive your payment card details.
7. This website
This website does not use cookies for tracking or advertising. Our hosting provider may keep standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for a short period to keep the site secure and running. If you email us, we keep the message and our reply so we can help you.
8. How we use information
We do not sell your information and we do not show adverts.
- To run the Game, sync progress for signed-in players, and deliver new stories.
- To understand which parts of a story need improving, using the anonymous counters in section 3.
- To send notifications you have agreed to.
- To answer support requests, prevent abuse and meet legal obligations.
9. Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers, only to run the Game, under their own privacy terms:
- Clerk: account sign-in.
- Convex: our database and file storage for profiles, counters and stories.
- Expo and Apple: push notifications.
- Apple: App Store distribution and purchases.
- Our web host, for this website.
10. Keeping and deleting your data
Progress on your device stays until you delete the Game or sign out. If you ask to delete your account from the pause menu, it is scheduled for deletion and removed 30 days after you asked; during those 30 days you can take the request back. You can also email us and we will delete your profile on request.
Anonymous counters cannot be traced back to you, so they are kept for as long as they are useful.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live you may have the right to see, correct, export or delete the personal information we hold, or to object to how we use it. Email dev@buildlaunch.dev and we will respond within a reasonable time. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
12. Children
Foldline Duo is a mystery with dark themes and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us an email address, contact us and we will delete it.
13. Security and transfers
We use reputable providers and encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure. Our providers may process data in countries other than your own; where required we rely on appropriate safeguards.
14. Changes
If we change this policy we will update the date above, and tell signed-in players in the Game if the change is significant.
